Model School Program

The Why

Climate Change is one of the most urgent challenges facing humanity. And at TIDE we believe that young people must join the fight to save the planet.
Viewing them as allies, TIDE is investing in environment education. Equipping young people with requisite knowledge, tools, and skills, we are nurturing conservation champions.
A recent initiative at TIDE, the Model School Program is also redefining schools as sustainability hubs.

The How

Designed to instil a love for the environment, our intervention includes students in primary, middle, and senior classes.
Involving both teachers and volunteers, we encourage students to explore their relationship with nature. By examining their consumption of natural resources, students become cognizant of the fragile balance between the environment and all living beings.
Taking simple actions such as turning off running taps, segregating waste or creating kitchen gardens, they encourage others to live in harmony with our natural world.

Green campuses

Implementing a range of sustainable initiatives, we are promoting Green Campuses. Our efforts include auditing energy conservation, waste management, water conservation, and built environment development.
We work with Government schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya schools in urban and peri-urban areas. Currently working in 33 schools, with over 17500 students, our footprints span 5 major districts of Karnataka.
Through our partnership with HCLFoundation, we work in two schools and one Police Boys and Girls Club in Chennai.

Impact

All schools we work with have successfully initiated sustainability efforts. Reducing dependency on conventional energy sources, they have

Volunteering

In addition, over 300 volunteers from various corporate partners have engaged with the program. In a strategic two-way flow of benefits, the volunteers learn about environmental leadership as they impart conservation lessons to the students.

Our Partners

Currently our partners are our schools and funder organizations – Societe Generale GSC and HCLFoundation.
